Today is my girlfriend (Jazmin Riley)’s, 21st birthday. This weekend will be the big celebration, though I have a lot planned for tonight as well. We’ve been talking about taking the next step in our relationship over the past month, so for her birthday, I’m giving her an engagement ring. She’s pretty much figured it out already (…I’m absolutely horrible at keeping secrets when it comes to presents…)… either way, should be an interesting evening.
Update: She said yes and had a great birthday.
This past weekend I received an invitation from Lorri Mitchell and T-Bone to co-shoot The Black Sheep Alliance, a local band they had recently met. I didn’t currently have any band photos in my portfolio so I jumped on the opportunity.
We met up in downtown Phoenix, outside of Alice Cooper’s Cooperstown Restaurant. The band had not arrived yet, which gave us ample time to scout a few setups before makeup and wardrobe. The particular area of downtown Phoenix were were in is ripe with locations for shooting bands. A lot of color, exposed brick, underpasses, etc…
Once they arrived, Lorri had a quick makeup session with the band, Lorri loves her rocker boys, and we were off to shoot. The band members were all pretty cool. It always amazes me how laid back and friendly a lot of hardcore looking band members are.
Cathleen, of Tialey Vintage Clothing, and I have been working on a series of photos to be used in Tialey Vintage’s promotional materials.
Cathleen had seen a few of the photos from one of my recent shoots with Jazmin Riley and wrote her wanting to meet with us to discuss doing a shoot for her company. Cathleen is a lot of fun and after our first meeting I was sure we were going to create some great images.
Bright and early on the day of the shoot, everyone met at the studio for hair, makeup and wardrobe. Lorri Mitchell did an excellent job, as usual, on the model’s hair and makeup. Once everyone was photo-ready, we drove out to a recreational park nearby the studio. It was a bright, beautiful day which lent itself well to the natural light style I was looking for.
The photos from the shoot have already appeared in Cause A Scene Magazine and will be soon appearing in Tialey Vintage’s promotional materials.
